Siegfried & Roy and Penn & Teller are featured in a Las Vegas
Review-Journal article that looks at some dressing rooms of regular
Vegas performers. Siegfried & Roy's digs are described as, "If the
size of a performer's dressing room is directly equal to his star
power, then Siegfried and Roy light up the Strip." The article also
reported that, "The illusionists spend about eight hours a day in
their apartment, their publicist Frank Liberman says, holding
meetings, conducting business, preparing for the show, and
entertaining friends and visitors." Penn & Teller on the other hand
are at the other extreme, Jillette explained, "(Hotel officials)
asked us what demands we had for our dressing rooms. They were
surprised when we said we had none." Jillette pointed out, "If I had
anything with special meaning I wouldn't have it at a hotel." The
article also reported that Jillette "spends as little time as
possible in his dressing room" while "Teller spends even less time
in his dressing room than Jillette; about 45 minutes a night." To

Magic
TV, a weekly magic show on Manhattan Cable, produced by Igor and
Danny T. will end their first season with four shows in October that
will culminate with a "television format close-up magic contest."
Tapings will be held at the Den of Cin (44 Ave A) in Manhattan, on
Oct. 2, 9, 16 and 23 from 7-10pm. The shows and contest are open to
anyone who appears at the taping and is willing to perform. Igor
commented "This is the easiest way to get your act on TV… All you
have to do is show up and show a decent trick." The finals will be
held on the 23rd where all the clips will be screened and the
audience and judges will cast their votes. The two awards that will
be presented are First Place Award for highest score and a Peoples
Choice Award.(10/1)
Gerry
McCambridge in a Variety article that describes him as "the
comedic but uncannily accurate mentalist who can tell you the
exact contents of your wallet -- along with your favorite city,
the concept or word you've just thought of at random or your
long-kept-a-secret middle initial." His management will pitch him
on Wednesday for a possible TV series, "CAA will attempt to
levitate McCambridge from 'the easy thing -- a one-off TV
special,' according to one CAA insider -- into the forefront of
the reality TV wolfpack. The percentery intends to pack its
theater with A-list TV scribes and producers, and even a few
motion picture folk for good measure, in an effort to both
entertain skeptics and package a new show." The Sep. 30 article by
Claude Brodesser is titled "CAA puts its mind to it."(10/1)
"Men of Magic" which ran briefly Off-Off Broadway was
reviewed at nytheatre.com. The show which stars Eric Walton and
Nelson Lugo was described as "Men of Magic is a delightful show that

fresh and enticing new entertainment." The review concluded, "Men of
Magic manages to be funny and gasp-inducingly astounding and
sparklingly smart and sophisticated all at once. Actor-magicians
Walton and Lugo keep us on our toes throughout, showing us (to crib
from Tennessee Williams) what ought not to be true in the teasing
guise of reality." To read the Sep. 16 review by Martin Denton

Steve
Cohen who is currently presenting his show at the Langham Hilton in
London is profiled in The Independent where he explained, "On a deep
level people don't want to know how it's done… A comedian can make
you laugh. Music can make you tap your foot. But magic makes you
wonder." The article also discusses some of the magic in his show,
"Two women close their eyes and hold out bare arms. He taps one with
a feather, lightly, three times -- but it is the other who reacts
and swears she has been touched. Now he takes three wedding rings
from volunteers, puts them into a glass tumbler, shakes it and lifts
the rings out with a pen. They are interlinked. Oh boy. Then he
shows us the time on a stranger's watch, asks a woman to hold it and
think of a number. She says 18. When she opens her fist the hands on
the watch have moved back 18 minutes, on their own." To read the
