Key
pieces from the Mario Carrandi Houdini collection will be on
display at the Atlantique City antique show on Oct. 19-20 at the
Atlantic City Convention Center. The exhibit will include ten
wall-cases and ten showcases full of magic apparatus, posters,
photographs, programs, magic sets, and much more. Carrandi
explained, in a press release, that after Houdini's housekeeper
Rose Bonanno died, her basement was found to be full of Houdini
memorabilia which was auctioned off, "The sale was publicized in a
small ad in The New York Times, but other than that, it didn't
draw much attention. Carrandi was one of just a few serious
bidders in attendance that day. He purchased more than 400 Houdini
lots, paying about $37,500. It was a paltry sum for such historic
items by today’s standards. 'I remember it was raining. I had two
kids, a house and a mortgage, but I saw this as a
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.'" In addition to Carrandi, Joel
Miller and Hap Korsen will be manning the exhibit. For more
information about the event click:

stationed in Bali near the bomb blast, traveled to Thailand on
Monday." Unable to make a last minute change this weekend
Copperfield explained, "I miscalled the island (Sunday) night
because my job wasn't really to do the news in my show -- my job
is to transport people from the news… My job is to make people
dream, not remember." To read the Oct. 15 article by Will Evans
