 Tom
Mullica’s "Red Skelton, A Tribute by Tom Mullica" which opened at the Plaza
Hotel in Las Vegas on May16 closed on Saturday Sep. 19. It was a very good run with some
terrific reviews. There were all kinds of rumors on the Internet about why it closed
– all that I have read are untrue. The real reason was alluded to in the Aug. 14
issue of the Las Vegas Review-Journal (which was refrenced in the August issue of mT).
Once the show was moved to the afternoon spot it was time to find a better venue. Mullica
told MagicTimes that his manager is trying to book a theater tour. Stay tuned – it
might be coming to a theater near you! (9/21)

Ricky Jay wrote a wonderful story about his friend T.A.
Waters who he called, "...the world’s foremost expert in ‘mentalism,’
the term magicians use to describe magic of the mind." The story appears in the Sep.

"Perry Mason: The Case of the Glass Coffin" is a
magic themed, 1991, made for TV movie where Mason (Raymond Burr) defends a magician (Peter Scolari) whose failed illusion conjured up a murder indictment. Airs on Thursday Sep. 24

 Genii,
The International Conjurors’ Magazine has just been purchased by Richard Kaufman.
Genii which was owned by the Larsen family for more than 60 years is the longest running
magazine in magic. The monthly magazine has always had trouble being published on a
regular basis. The January 1998 issue was the last which subscribers received and was
mailed in July. Throughout its history Genii always portrayed magicians and the art of
magic in the most positive way. It made you proud to be a magician. Hopefully Kaufman will
try and keep that tradition going. (9/24)

opens on Saturday, Sep. 26 at the 1500-seat Tivoli Music Hall, at Worlds of Fun amusement park in Kansas City, MO. The

Maven has a new weekly TV series called "The MAXimum Dimension" on the Ontario,
Canada TVO network. The half-hour children’s show started airing this month on
Saturdays at 5:30pm. The Sep. 26 episode is called "The Whole Nine Yards" with
the plot being that Max's assistant wants to quit because the girl of his dreams thinks
his interest in math is geeky. The series is aimed at helping kids conquer their math
phobia through magic, games and puzzles. Eleven episodes have already been taped with
fifteen more scheduled to begin shooting in November. The show has also been picked up by
SCN-TV and will start airing in central Canada later this year. (9/26)
