Bhagyanath and his magic troupe of ten people is the
youngest magician in India. Believe it or not the, six-year-old,
magician has already performed more than 200 stage shows and earns Rs 15,000 per show. In an India Express article he is quoted,
"I want to be a great magician like my father." His
father, well known Indian magician Prof Nath Bhagyanath, first
incorporated his son in his stage show when he was only

New Wizardz Magical Dinner Theater to
Open in Japan
July 7th, 2000 will mark the official
opening of the new Wizardz Magical Dinner Theater in Urayasu-Shi,
Chiba-Ken, Japan. This second Wizardz, located adjacent to an upscale
tourist destination, Tokyo’s Disneyland, (much as it’s prototype, the

Marc Salem's Mind Games And All That
Jazz opens on Jun. 27 at Feinsteins at the Regency (540 Park Ave) in
New York City. The show is scheduled to run through Sep. 2 with one
show on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and two shows on Fridays and
Saturdays. The cost is a $40 cover charge and a $30 food or drink

Darren Romeo's association with Siegfried & Roy has
become official. According to a Jun. 27 Siegfried & Roy press
release, "...they will represent and produce Las Vegas'
freshest new talent, Darren Romeo 'The Voice of Magic.'"
According to Siegfried, "Darren Romeo combines fantastic
illusions with a spellbinding singing voice. He's an original whom
we feel will make his mark in magic." Roy added, "The
experience, knowledge and tradition of the team we are providing
Darren will go a long way in making him the future superstar in
Las Vegas." Also involved in the management of Romeo will be
the powerhouse team of Kenneth Feld, and Bernie Yuman.(6/28)
Marc Salem, whose new show opened
in New York City
yesterday, gets a nice write-up in the New York Post. In addition
to describing what you can expect to experience in the show you
are also given some biographical information about Salem. His
style is described as, "Despite the show's out-of-this-world
subject matter, Salem has a warm, down-to-earth stage

The Society of American Magicians' (SAM) annual convention on Jun.
21-24 in Milwaukee featured many competitions and many awards were
handed out. The results are as follows: Close-Up Competition: Igor
won the Chairperson's High Score Award ($1000), Jeff Bibik won
with the second highest score ($500). Stage Competition: Ardan
James won the Chairperson's High Score Award ($1000), Larry Volz
& Wendy Neugent won with the second highest score ($500).
Pearl Bhumgara won the Junior Stage Contest receiving a Silver
Medal of Merit and $500. Winston Helling, Jr. received the SAM
Originality Award. Joel Ward received the SAM Incentive Award and
$200. Ardan James also won The People's Choice Award ($500) and
was invited to perform at the SAM Japan Convention next year. The
Genii Awards: Winston Helling, Jr. received the Close-Up Award and
$300, and Aaron Gouveia (Takeshi) received the Stage Award and
$300. Mark Bond received The Mystic Craig Award for Professional
Promise. Fr. Cyprian Murray and Marvyn Roy were made Honorary
Members of the SAM. The annual Milburn Christopher Awards were
given to: Eugene Burger (Literary), David Bull (Illusionist),
Ardan James (newcomer), and Billy McComb (Lifetime
Achievement).(6/29)David Blaine signs a deal with Villard Books (Random House)
to write his first book, ''Mysterious Stranger,'' which is slated
to be published in the Fall of 2001. The book will contain a
combination of magic instruction and magic history. Also expected
is an encrypted code in the book which could lead someone to a
buried treasure. Also mentioned in the article is the much rumored

Magician John McLaughlin was named as the number two man at
the CIA. President Clinton nominated him as the next deputy
director and the Senate will have to confirm the appointment.
Using magic in his job, McLaughlin "...is not averse to
performing tricks with cards or rubber bands to make the point
that analysts need to be aware that situations are not always as
they seem when observed from one angle." CIA Director George
Tenet called him, "...the smartest man in America.'' To read

PORTUGAL:
The 21st FISM World Magic Congress, which is held once every three
years, is finally upon us. Magicians have already started arriving
in Lisbon for one of the largest conventions in magic. More than
2,000 attendees from just about every country on the planet will
spend around a week watching, learning and performing magic. More
than 200 magicians will compete in eight categories and one person
will receive for the coveted FISM Grand Prix which will be
announced on Saturday July 8. The talent lineup of performers and

Michael McPherson who stars in Vertigo, a magic show which
combines acrobatic skills with illusions, opens at Sam's Town
Casino in Tunica County, TN on Saturday and runs through Jul. 14.
McPherson describes what he does a Commercial Appeal article,

both art forms into one art form, and labeled it physical magic,

Magician
and quick-change artist Arturo Brachetti is currently taping ten
episodes of the new sitcom "Nikki" for Warner Brothers.
The show which stars Nikki Cox and is being produced by Bruce Helford
(The Drew Cary Show, Rosanne) will debut this fall on Sundays at
9:30pm. Brachetti plays an ex-Las Vegas dancer with "hidden
talents." The role was created with him in mind after his
successful appearance on The Drew Carey Show. The show, which
features weekly production numbers, revolves around the life of
newlyweds who moved to Las Vegas to become a showgirl and a
