Gary Ouellet is described as a "Renaissance man who helped
many Las Vegas magicians polish their acts and who gave them huge
breaks via NBC TV specials." A Las Vegas Review-Journal article
shares more light on his career and current projects. According to
David Saxe Ouellet's new ventures were because, "It was important to
him to have full creative control of something, and he could never
do that by being a consultant." Magicians mentioned in the article
include: Mac King, Lance Burton, Melinda, Steve Wyrick, Joaquin
Ayala, The Amazing Johnathan, and David Copperfield. The Las Vegas
memorial service takes place on Monday Jun. 17 at the "Insomnia
club, where the musical "Tease" is Ouellet's last mark on the
Strip." To read the Jun. 16 article by Mike Weatherford titled "Ouellet

In an article about scams on the Internet the Cincinnati
Business Journal compares the skills of a magician to that of one of
the scams. The author points out, "But we are not entertained every
time we are fooled. Indeed sometimes it can make us quite angry.
When we get less than we bargained for, we feel cheated, not amused.
You see, magicians may be professional liars, but not all
professional liars are magicians. Some are merely out to separate us
from our money." To read the Jun. 7 article by Wm. Bruce Davis

An article about stage fright in the Las Vegas Sun speaks to
Lance Burton, Mac King and Penn Jillette. Burton said, "What I found
is that after you spend so many hours on the stage in front of
people doing your act, you get over (stage fright)." Jillette
explained, "…stage fright is merely a warped perspective from
entertainers who place too much importance on their jobs." Jillette
then explained, "…those who should have stage fright are police
officers, firefighters and doctors, those with jobs 'where one
mistake can do real damage.'" Jillette then concluded, "I think
stage fright ultimately is an unhealthy ego that is out of control,
thinking what you do is important." To read the Jun. 20 article by
