(New York) The World’s Greatest Escape Artist, (footnote)  Thomas Solomon redefines the art form popularized by Houdini over a hundred years ago, when he opens in a new show titled "Elusions", at The Center for the Performing Arts in Rhinebeck, New York.

Opening Thursday, September 19 through Sunday, September 29 "Elusions" features the award-winning escapes and breathtaking illusions that have amazed Solomon’s audiences around the world. Tickets are $20, $17 and $15 for group admission.

Combining "historically significant" handcuffs with those brought by audience members, Solomon will perform his award-winning, never-before-seen, full view escapes from these restraints. But, that’s only the beginning--over the course of the show Solomon escapes an ancient torture device direct from the Tower of London, a NYC subway locked token bag and the first ever, escape from a top secret nuclear device used to store Plutonium 241 (PU241) underwater by the US military. Solomon’s escape from this device after he was locked and submerged under 200 gallons of ice cold water fooled military brass and took more than a year of government red tape to secure permission from the Department of Defense and Department of Energy to perform on stage.

Videos highlight his many outdoor performances including underwater handcuff escapes and street illusions while music, lights, and the assistance of two dancers accentuate the stories of early inspirations. Twice, he performed his award-winning sleight-of-hand at The White House where he astounded President Ronald Reagan and later, President George Bush with close-up magic that had these ‘leaders of the free world’ rubbing their eyes in disbelief.

Elusions will have you, too, rubbing your eyes in disbelief.

(Footnote) Voted "World’s Greatest Escape Artist" by the Academy of Magical Arts, Thomas Solomon escaped ten pairs of handcuffs in full view of the audience fastened onto him by two members of the Los Angeles Police Department for the 2000 World Magic Awards which aired on PAX television.
