Pictured
is Maurine Christopher being
introduced by Dave Haversat
at the Christopher Magic
Auction on April 20 in New
York City. Billed by Ted Bogusta's Martinka Magic as
the Magic Auction of the
Century, it did not
disappoint with total sales
exceeding a million dollars
($1,032,588 includes
premium but not sales tax).
All but one item was sold,
with 34% of the lots being
sold in the room while phone
and internet bidders bought
the rest. Bidders included
non-magicians and
celebrities due to the age
and quality of the products
offered. The top grossing
item was the Bronze statue
pictured on the cover of a
Christopher book and the
auction catalog. It sold for
$54,000 and it is rumored
that Christopher originally
purchased it at a flea
market for $25! For a
