Indian magicians seek ruling on magic

A father and son conjuring act from the
Indian city of Pune have asked the
Bombay High Court to rule on whether
magic can be classed as an art form.
Vijay and Jitendre Bhopale turned to the
high court after failing to get a
satisfactory response on the issue from
the Maharashtra state government. The
pair say defining magic as art will
force the state to provide funds and
dispel superstitions about it.

rival magicians, Burt Wonderstone, did
their homework last night when they paid
a visit to real-life magician David
Copperfield’s Vegas Show. Copperfield
tweeted the above photo late last night
with the caption, “A lot of star power
in the audience tonight! How many can
you name?” Of course, the celebrities in
the photo are James Gandolfini, Olivia
Wilde, Steve Carell, and Steve Buscemi.
All four stars are in Las Vegas to shoot
scenes for Wonderstone before the shoot
moves to Los Angeles next week. The only
cast member missing in the photo is Jim
Carrey, who plays Carell’s nemesis.

The programme to be shown on CBBC is
called Help! My Supply Teacher is Magic
and will feature Chris Corlett from St
John’s, a year nine pupil from QEII
school in Peel, Nathan Hill from
Castletown, who is a year eight pupil at
Castle Rushen school, and Thomas Clague
from Glen Vine, who is in year eight at
QEII. All three are members of Young
Magicians of Mann and got involved after
their club was contacted in the summer

German TV show years ago, and I became
good friends with them, always trying to
figure out their illusions. I'm going on
tour with my own show from late Feb and
March, and wanted to put an illusion in

on board if he would help me, and that
