Teller of Penn & Teller Breaks Silence To Sue Over Magic Trick
Teller says he realized that it was a copy of Shadows, called Dogge on the phone and offered money if Dogge didn't disclose the mechanics of the illusion. The two couldn't come to an agreement, however, so Teller is now suing in a case that could help determine the level of protection that magicians have over their tricks.

When “scientific showman” John Henry Pepper first unveiled the trick in London in 1862, the audience saw a three-dimensional actor apparently floating on stage, according to Jim Steinmeyer, a top creator of illusions for magicians and other entertainers and also a historian of the craft. Contemporary instances of the effect, known as Pepper’s Ghost, display a two-dimensional image with no “dimensionality,” he adds.

Young Magicians to stage a show - Isle of Man Today
Organisers of the show are Paul Martin, Mike Clague and Lexi Watterson, the only island-based members of The Magic Circle. Mike explained: ‘The club, for youngsters aged 10 to 18, performed to a full house at the Youth Arts Centre in Douglas before Easter, and we’re taking a slightly shorter version of the show on tour to six other venues during the summer term. It’s quite a few years since an evening of magic was staged in Peel, so this is a rare opportunity for all the family to enjoy conjuring and illusions by a group of very talented young people.’
